Planting, Planting, Planting...

One of the things about garden blogging that amazes me is this:
"When you have things to blog about going on in the garden, you are too busy and tired to post!" (At least I am)

I've been going down the checklist of fruits and veggies I have planned for the year. Here's what I have so far:

A&M Onions -180
Broccoli - 27
Cabbage Red - 9
Cabbage Green - 18
Pea plants - 320
Collard Greens -18
Cauliflower - 18
Asparagus - 10
Strawberries - 34
Horseradish - 2
Red Seedless Grapes - 2
Gala Apple Tree - 1

And.. I have started tomatoes indoors:

Tommy Toes - 20
Cherokee Purple - 20
Brandywine - 20
Amish Paste - 20
Italian Heirloom - 20

I'll head out tomorrow to plant beets and a few wonderful bushes I got on clearance at Lowe's

2 Gardenias
1 Dwarf Youpon Holly
1 Pencil Holly

I'm on a roll! I hope I can get more veggies out in the next few weeks. I'm still working on the garden area and need to finish more of the trenches/walkways. (That's gonna hurt!)

  2. We're planting as much as we can this year. I'm trying to grow enough food to preserve for my family through the year. Plus I thought there may be more needs this year due to the economy and may be able to help someone. I use bio-intensive gardening methods so I really can get more crammed in to a smaller space. :)

  4. That's great that you're able to garden like that. My zone 10 is too intense for big time veggie gardening in the summer. Wow...if you make enough food for a year and it's all from your garden, it must be delicious.

  7. Thanks you all. :) I hope it all works out. I have committed myself to a pretty big project this year. With all of the strange weather and plagues we get from year to year, I've got my fingers crossed for this one to be a good year. Let's see..06 was biggest drought since 1980. 07 was the super flood record year here plus grasshoppers as thick as locusts. Last year was ok except for the tomato hornworm battle and the month late last freeze. Who knows this year, lol.
